Thank you for the honor to serve as your President for the 2017-18 League year.  I would like to begin with an expressed appreciation for your trust in me as your leader as well as your passion and dedication to our community and organization.  With your support, we were able focus on three things: deepening our impact within our community, enhancing our member engagement, and ensuring financial sustainability through a diverse funding portfolio.

Together we served over 2,000 children by volunteering over 5,000 hours and increasing our community budget higher than recent years by 13%. We executed a successful year one partnership with the Big Bend Homeless Coalition HOPE Community where we worked to contribute to the great work they do to assist women and families moving out of homelessness into stable housing. We continued to demonstrate expanded contributions by hosting two Kids’ Boutique events, countless Done in a Day opportunities and a wonderful Operation Prom. Parallel to these efforts, as a membership we selected our new Jill Pope Community Partner Second Harvest, and I am excited to reestablish our relationship with this organization as we continue to focus on basic needs.

I am delighted to say our organization also values our members and their League experience.  We are an incredible group of diverse women, and I am more and more proud of you each day.  You give your time, talents and financial support to make our community stronger. This year, we built upon initiatives that help to develop our members’ skill sets and produce trained volunteers.  We launched multiple platforms that promote streamlined and effective communication, transforming the manner in which we deliver and share information. Some of these efforts include a summer training for all members, poverty simulation, Diversity and Inclusion Board and Management Team Training, Digital Cheetah and a new look and feel of the League Loop and website.

To ensure financial sustainability, our funding goals continued to focus on building a diverse funding portfolio and being conservative fiscal stewards of the money entrusted to our organization. We met our funding goal through our generous sponsors and initiatives such as the Little Black Dress, our final year of the Whale of a Sale, Tallahassee Ford Lincoln’s Driven to Give, our second annual Golf Tournament, JLT merchandise and countless other internal and external funding events.

As you can see, it’s an exciting time to be a member of the Junior League of Tallahassee! I hope your year has been as rewarding as mine has. Continue to be bold.

And remember, we are the bridge between what is and what could be.
JLT Love,
Taylor Hatch
