A Note from Our 2006/2007 President, Nicole Hobbs

Welcome the Junior League of Tallahassee's web site. Please feel free to browse our site to get a glimpse of our community involvement.

JLT is a non-profit made up of more than 600 women. Our members are committed to JLT's mission of promoting volunteerism and developing the potential of women and communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. JLT's rich history in the Tallahassee area dates back to 1960, and we are one of 293 leagues in four Countries in the Association of Junior Leagues International.

Last year was a year of firsts for the JLT. We were able to see a several, year -long projects come to fruition. In May, with our own hands we built from the ground up a fabulous new playground at the Tallahassee Museum. This was the single largest gift the JLT has ever given to any organization. Then, in June, we were awarded a grant from the Department of Health in excess of $14,500 for our work on the Museum playground. This was the largest grant received in the history of JLT. This grant has enabled us to make additional enhancements to the Museum's playground as well as improvements to the Gretchen Everhart School for Exceptional Students new playground.

This year our 46th, we are looking ahead to many more wonderful projects and fundraisers. On the project side, in August we recently hosted 150 Tallahassee school children for Kids Boutique, our annual back to school shopping event, which was held at Old Navy and Shoe Carnival. Our Done In a Day committee will be doing several more exciting projects throughout the year. The spring brings our final project of the year Operation Prom Dress, in which we offer to prom dresses and accessories to girls at Gretchen Everhart School and the Tallahassee area.

On the fundraising side this spring brings back two of our favorite fundraisers. Whale of a Sale ,our areas largest and best garage sale. Then our ever -popular Cooks Tour of Kitchens, where guests get a sneak-peek into some of the best kitchens in Tallahassee!

I am proud to serve this year as the President of such an amazing group of women. Again, I invite you to browse through out site to learn more about us! Please feel free to contact us for additional information on membership or perhaps becoming a community partner.
